Planning an Austin elopement can be both exciting and overwhelming—but this city makes it easy to find the perfect spot to say “I do.” From scenic Hill Country overlooks to modern skyline views, Austin is full of unique elopement locations for every kind of couple. If you’re starting to ask where to elope in Austin and exploring your options, you’re in the right place. This guide will walk you through some of the most beautiful and intimate places to elope and exchange vows in the Austin area. As an experienced Austin elopement photographer, I’ll also share my tips to help you start planning an Austin elopement that feels true to you (or even discover the perfect location for a romantic day out in the city!).

Chapel Dulcinea

A free (yes free) Spanish inspired chapel in South Austin that has been a favorite to elope in Austin for years. Get the chapel look and incredible hill country views. Reserve during the weekday for free, $500 in the evening, or $1,000 on weekend evenings for a private vow exchange or full ceremony with loved ones. Make sure to check out their website and online calendar which shows which dates and times are available. Get your date secured asap though because this place has gotten VERY popular lately.

Sekrit Theater

Get the quirky, nature-y greenhouse mixed with industrial modern architecture feel at one of my favorite venues in Austin!

Austin Public Library Rooftop Garden

Literature lovers, listen up! Get married at the picturesque library with a rooftop garden and downtown views. Rentals start at only $300.

Hotel Ella

A mix of timeless modernity and luxury with greenery, Hotel Ella is an underrated all-in-one venue for an elopement. Get ready in one of the elegant suites and exchange vows under expansive columns that feel luxurious, all in the heart of the city.

Laguna Gloria

This park is widely popular for elopements and portraits for its fun sculptures and incredible manor house at the top. But note: Laguna Gloria requires a $100 photography fee and you must schedule an appointment, so plan ahead!

Mount Bonnel

A sunset elopement DREAM! But don’t go on a weekend when the overlook is crowded. Oh, and you can bring your pets!

If you plan on bringing more than just yourself, go to the end of the road to the entry way to the lookout that does not require walking up stairs or a large hill.

Texas State Capitol Grounds

The classic architecture of the capitol building and massive lawn is a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony. Many couples elope here for that classic Austin look! Don’t worry about a permit, it’s not needed for small gatherings.

Butler Park

If a whole day ordeal isn’t your thing, let’s meet at sunrise or sunset to get these skyline views and plenty of green space at Butler without the crowd and pop by a coffee shop or bar afterwards.

Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve

Biggest hidden gem: gardens, cottages, and PEACOCKS…say no more. This is a whimsical and unique spot to exchange vows. There are permits required and public access times are limited!

Zilker Botanical Garden

One of my favorite spots for a nature lover’s dream. A small admission fee will get you a variety of scenery – waterfalls, Japanese gardens, the skyline, and more. The gardens does have a photography session fee for $50. Make sure to go right at the garden’s opening on a week day for less crowds.

McKinney Falls State Park

A classic choice — escape the city and elope surrounded by waterfalls, limestone rocks, and trails that make you feel like you traveled out of state. There is a small fee for weddings!

Hamilton Pool Preserve

Wanting that dramatic waterfall moment? In a short drive from Austin, get just that and more. Reservations and modest fees are required.

Pedernales Falls State Park

Lace up your hiking boots and climb this rocky terrain for epic waterfall payoff!

Enchanted Rock

This is THE hiking spot in Texas hill country! If you’re crunchy or granola as the kids say, and want an elopement that feels out-of-state, look no further! Enchanted Rock is a go-to for adventurous couples. Stay at a cool Airbnb in Fredericksburg to round out a perfect elopement weekend!

Pennybacker / 360 Bridge Overlook

A perfect mix of urban skyline and nature trails. Gaze at Lady Bird lake as you exchange rings and vows. BUT, this place is a mad house since it’s a popular hiking location in Austin! Plan to head across 360 to the other side of the overlook where there is NO one.

Wooldridge Square Park

Free, beautiful, and underrated – can’t get much better than that! There’s a beautiful, white rectangular gazebo that can be used for a ceremony or portraits. The park also has ample shade so it’s ideal for an afternoon ceremony.

Travis County Courthouse

There are several courthouses located in Austin but the downtown Travis County courthouses are a favorite. Get your officiant included in your ceremony fee and run the halls of a mix of modern and classic architecture. This is a classic option for a ceremony now and a later celebration plan, whether that same day or weeks down the line!
